Pegasus The escape from Arnhem
Introduction Godfrey Freeman

Operation Market Garden took place on September 17, 1944. More than 20,000 Allies flew to the Netherlands to take several bridges and end the war. It did not come that far. The operation failed and many were killed. Hundreds of Allies had to hide in the area van Arnhem. In collaboration with the Dutch resistance, a new operation was set up. Operation Pegasus. This time not to liberate the Netherlands, but to help the liberators escape. Unlike Market garden, this operation was a success.

Godfrey Freeman was one of the Allies who managed to escape. He gave a detailed account of the operation. Thanks to his stories you can relive the operation. Dive into the story of the young British pilot and escape from Arnhem yourself.

Bridge to Liberation 2020

Corona made 2020 a special year for everyone. The previous year there were still 30,000 people at the John Frost bridge. Now suddenly no one was welcome and we had to design the commemoration very differently. A different kind of experience was requested from the audiovisual content and the way of telling the story. Together with narrator Francis Broekhuijsen, writer Nazmiye Oral and event director Alvin Williams, we found a way to do that. An intensive collaboration between the labels of East agency followed.

'Escape from Arnhem' by Godfrey Freeman tells the story of a young British pilot. He fought in Arnhem during Operation Market Garden and managed to survive the battle. The fact that he survived is due to his own cleverness, but at least as much to the Arnhem and Ede resistance. The title is apt. He came here to set us free. To end the war. In the end he was helped by us to escape from Arnhem.
